Sophomores Clark and Luce pick up where they left off a year ago, recording the awards after being named to the 2017 All-Freshman Team. The duo helped lead the Boilermakers to one of its strongest seasons of the decade, including seven shutout victories, the most since 2007. Under their guidance, Purdue reached the 10-win benchmark for the first time since 2009 and posted two 300-minute shutout streaks in addition to a program-record shutout streak at home of 470 consecutive minutes lasting from August 21 to October 12. In her inaugural season, Clark was a steady force for the Purdue, starting in every B1G matchup and 18 of 19 total games.

Clark, a native of Brighton, Michigan, accumulated the fourth-most minutes among returning players with 1643. Along with a consistently stellar performance throughout the 2017 campaign, Clark played an integral role in Purdue's 2-2 draw at No. 9 Penn State and the 2-0 win versus Northwestern. Both goals versus Northwestern originated with a corner kick by Clark. After just one season under her belt, Luce broke into the program's top-10 records in more than one category.

Luce comes in seventh among all Purdue goalkeepers with nine wins, which is also good for ninth-most in a single-season. Of Purdue's seven shutouts, five were courtesy of Luce.

The goalkeeper earned 831 minutes in the net on her way to totaling a 1.18 goals against average and.698 save percentage during conference play. Additionally, the Lewis Center, Ohio native produced the B1G Defensive Player of the Week award for her performance versus Illinois (September 28, W 1-0) and Northwestern (October 1, W 2-0). Mussallem enters her senior with 36 consecutive starts, the most among active Boilermakers. The team captain ranked second on the team with 1727 minutes played as well as second among returning players with three assists in 2017. Each of the assists by the Palos Heights, Illinois native set up game-winning goals. The Boilermakers will open the regular season Friday against Eastern Michigan at 7 p.m.
