Rated 5 out of 5 by Scott from Great sounding mic, effortless ease of use! The Apogee Mic is a tremendous little USB microphone. When used in a studio environment for lead vocals, I was blown away by just good this thing sounds for being a tiny usb microphone.

It's got a very clear and natural sound, and it's definitely the best quality usb microphone on the market. Add in the A/D converters from Apogee that are the best in the business, and you have yourself a great combination. It definitely needs a pop filter, and instead of wasting money and time and inconvenience with a traditional pop filter, I'd highly recommend buying the Shure SM7B pop filter. It fits perfectly over top of the Mic, and works perfectly without needing any additional accessories.

Rated 1 out of 5 by glentropy from Great Concept Poor Microphone I bought this microphone because it had the highest reviews in several articles pertaining to USB Mics. I love what they're trying to do with this thing as far as easy integration. That's great. The problem is that the microphone capsule itself sucks. I know it claims 96k blah blah but that doesn't really matter if the actual mic capsule is poor quality, which it is. I did a direct comparison between the built-in iphone mic and my zoom h6.

The mic didn't even come close to the quality of the zoom. It was a little bit better than the built in mic, but not $230 worth better. Had high hopes but really dissappointed. Thankfully BH has been great about having it returned.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS MIC. Rated 5 out of 5 by Burnell from Best microphone I've found for iOS devices. A small, very substantial microphone, indeed! I just bought one four days ago, and have used it with my iPad 4 and iPhone 6S Plus.

The quality of the recorded audio is excellent. Extremely easy plug and play. Have used it for vocals, ukulele, and Native American Flute. The only negatives, and it has nothing to do with the MiC, is that despite it's obvious portability, it does not come with a case.

Also, the included three-foot cable can limit your setup options. I opted to buy the Apogee case and their nine-foot cable, which adds an additional $58 dollars to the cost.

And I found the lightweight tripod to be prone to tipping over if used as depicted in the photo. Fortunately, I own more stable small tripods. But the MiC, itself is an awesome piece of tech. Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Excellent Mic for iPad / Garageband! Bought this for hobbyist vocal track recording (= closet rock star haha) on my iPad using the amazing Garageband app. Had been previously using the built-in mic on my Bose headphones. While the former sounded like singing over the phone, my new MiC96k provides a completely full / rich / broad sound spectrum, just as I was expecting!

Haven't compared this to any other mics of the same caliber, but it's vastly superior to a built-in earbud / headphone mic. Highly recommend it - worth every penny: ). Rated 5 out of 5 by Russtee from This is a great little mic. The Apogee mic 96k is a great little mic. I went into the B&H store in NYC and picked up this mic along with the carry case and I got a free pop filter with it.

Ok, I am using this mic with my iPad Air 2 for recording vocals and live sound fx. It reminds me very much of the Rode NT1000 sound wise, a very impressive design for such an inexpensive tool. The pick up is very sensitive so I totally recommend using the pop filter when recording vocals or outdoor recording. You get everything you need here, cables, tripod desk stand which can also be used as a small hand held boom, I've been doing this and it's great.

At 96kHz you are pretty much covered for high pitched distortion causing sounds, I did the key jingle test with this mic and it actually surpassed some of my 8 and 9 hundred dollar mics. It's perfect for your iPad studio.
